Raven Mesh has no accounts and no servers. Every message, photo, voice note, file and location share goes directly from your phone to the other phones in your mesh over Wi-Fi, encrypted, and nowhere else. Nothing you send in the app is ever transmitted to us, stored on any server we operate, or shared with any third party.
Raven Mesh is an offline mesh chat app. One device creates a mesh and others join by scanning a QR code or pasting a link. From there, phones talk to each other directly over Wi-Fi Direct or Wi-Fi Aware, with no internet connection, no cell signal and no central server required for the app to work.
Raven Mesh is a product of Atavistic Concept, published on the app stores under Algoz FZ-LLC (RAKEZ, UAE). Neither publishing entity operates a backend for the app - see below.
The table below lists every type of data the app touches, exactly as declared in the Google Play Data Safety and Apple App Privacy sections for this app.
| Data type | Where it goes | Stored on our servers? |
|---|---|---|
| Chat messages | Directly to the peer(s) you send to | No |
| Photos and videos | Directly to the peer(s) you send to | No |
| Voice notes | Directly to the peer(s) you send to | No |
| Files | Directly to the peer(s) you send to | No |
| Location (optional live-share) | Directly to peers in your mesh, only if you turn this on | No |
All of the above is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and travels device-to-device only. It is stored on your own phone, in an encrypted local database, for as long as you keep the app installed or until you leave the mesh, clear app data, or use the duress wipe in Settings.
| Permission | Reason |
|---|---|
| Location | Powers the live map screen and optional location sharing with your mesh. Off by default; you turn it on per-mesh. |
| Camera / Microphone | Lets you attach a photo, video or voice note to a message. Only active when you use those features. |
| Nearby Wi-Fi devices | Required by Android to discover and connect to other phones running Raven Mesh nearby. |
| Internet | Android requires this permission for any socket connection, including the private link formed directly between two phones over Wi-Fi Direct. Raven Mesh does not use it to reach the public internet - it never resolves a domain name or dials a remote server. |
| Notifications | Shows the persistent “mesh connected” notice and incoming-message alerts while the app runs in the background. |
Messages are stored in an encrypted on-device database (SQLCipher), with the database key held in your phone’s hardware-backed keystore. You may set a PIN or biometric lock in Settings. A separate duress PIN, if configured, wipes the app’s local data (messages, media, mesh membership) behind a disguised error screen.
Raven Mesh offers one optional one-time purchase to remove the free-tier peer limit. This purchase is processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their own privacy policies; we never see or store your payment details.
Raven Mesh is not directed at children and is listed for users aged 18 and over on both app stores.
If Raven Mesh’s data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change accordingly.
